Mission Statement
"I am committed to advancing equitable, user-centered healthcare through innovative technologies that empower individuals and communities.
By integrating research, collaboration, and education, I aim to co-create practical solutions that improve quality of life—especially for underserved and aging populations."

Amine Choukou, PhD
I’m an Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy at the University of Manitoba’s College of Rehabilitation Sciences. My research focuses on improving healthcare access and outcomes, especially for people in rural or underserved communities. I use AI, at-home rehab, and sensor-based telemonitoring to create user-friendly tools that support patient autonomy and reduce barriers to care.

My interests include digital health literacy, eHealth in geriatric rehab, and the usability of AgeTech. I’m passionate about helping people receive care outside of traditional clinical settings.

I hold a PhD in Human Kinetics from Université Paris-Saclay and completed postdoctoral training in neurorehabilitation technology. I’ve received several awards, including the Gerry McDole Professorship and the Deborah Freund Paper Award.
